Independent Recordkeeper — From Migration to Ongoing Operations
The Challenge
An independent recordkeeper needed to migrate approximately 150 retirement plans from FIS-hosted Relius to their own internal system. The timeline was aggressive, and the migration required deep expertise in Relius platform configuration, data mapping, and plan-level customizations that had been built over years of operation on the FIS-hosted environment.
Our Approach
Convergent deployed a team of experienced Relius practitioners to execute the migration:
Migration Execution — We managed the end-to-end migration of 150 plans, including data extraction, transformation, validation, and cutover. Each plan required individual attention to ensure custom configurations and plan rules were preserved.
Ongoing Operations Support — After the successful migration, the client recognized the value of having Convergent's expertise available on an ongoing basis. The engagement evolved from a migration project to a comprehensive platform support relationship.
Proprietary Platform Support — Our team provides day-to-day support for the client's proprietary platforms, including incident resolution, system monitoring, and configuration management.
System Modernization Advisory — Beyond operations, we provide strategic guidance on platform modernization, helping the client evaluate new technologies and approaches while maintaining operational stability.
The Results
What started as a single migration project has become a six-year ongoing relationship. Convergent currently has six consultants supporting the client across platform operations, incident management, and modernization planning.
The engagement exemplifies Convergent's approach: we deliver the initial project, and our clients choose to keep us because our practitioners become an indispensable part of their operations team.

The Translation Gap
Why Most Retirement Technology Modernization Fails — And What the Winners Do Differently
The future of retirement technology will not be won by the firms with the most tools, the biggest teams, or the loudest AI announcements. It will be won by the firms that can translate domain knowledge into technical execution faster than their competitors.
Your platform won't modernize itself. Let's talk.
