Fortune 500 Recordkeeper — OmniPlus Optimization & Proprietary Product
The Challenge
A Fortune 500 financial institution's retirement division relied on the FIS OmniPlus platform for its recordkeeping operations. Over time, the platform accumulated defects, performance bottlenecks, and operational inefficiencies — particularly in batch processing, which was critical for nightly operations including trading, NAV calculations, and compliance reporting.
The client needed a partner who understood OmniPlus at the code level — not at the vendor-relationship level — and could deliver both ongoing platform support and innovative solutions to long-standing operational challenges.
Our Approach
Convergent maintained up to six concurrent resources on the engagement, providing:
OmniPlus Platform Support — Ongoing defect resolution, environmental support, and OmniScript development. Our team served as the primary technical point of contact for OmniPlus platform operations.
CJMS Development — Convergent designed and built CJMS (Convergent Job Management System), a proprietary job management product that transformed batch processing from single-threaded to concurrent execution. This product was developed by Convergent and licensed back to the client.
Infrastructure Optimization — Our team provided batch processing optimization, infrastructure improvements, and performance tuning across the OmniPlus environment.
Cross-Business Unit Support — The engagement spanned multiple business units within the client organization, including investment-management advisory work.
The Results
The CJMS product significantly improved batch processing performance, reducing overnight processing windows and improving system reliability. The product represents a unique outcome in consulting — Convergent built a proprietary product that was good enough for a Fortune 500 financial institution to license and deploy in production.
The multi-year engagement demonstrated the depth of trust the client placed in Convergent's technical capabilities and domain expertise.

Why Most Retirement Technology Modernization Fails — And What the Winners Do Differently
The future of retirement technology will not be won by the firms with the most tools, the biggest teams, or the loudest AI announcements. It will be won by the firms that can translate domain knowledge into technical execution faster than their competitors.
Your platform won't modernize itself. Let's talk.
